How to play Hearts
Avoid taking hearts and the queen of spades — lowest score after several hands wins... unless you take every penalty card.
Every trick carries risk, since a single misjudged card can dump 13 painful points on you while a bold player secretly chases the game-flipping shoot-the-moon.
- Whoever holds the 2 of clubs leads the first trick of the match
- Tap a card of the led suit if you have one
- Hearts can't be led until one's been played off-suit in an earlier trick
💡 Taking every single heart plus the queen of spades in one hand "shoots the moon" — everyone else takes 26 points instead of you.
💡 Early in a hand, dump your highest cards in each suit while it's still safe, before hearts start flowing and those cards turn dangerous.
