How to play Dice Royale

  1. The aim is to be the first player to bank 100 points or more.
  2. On your turn, roll the die. You must roll at least once before you are allowed to hold.
  3. If you roll 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6, that number is added to your turn total and you choose again: roll or hold.
  4. If you roll a 1, you bust. Your turn total drops to zero and play passes to the next player.
  5. If you hold, the turn total is added to your banked score and your turn ends. Banked points are safe for the rest of the game.
  6. Play continues clockwise around the table, with 30 seconds allowed for each decision.
  7. The first player whose banked score reaches 100 or more wins immediately.

Dice Royale tips and strategy

  • Use 20 as your default. Holding once the turn total reaches 20 is close to the best simple rule, because beyond that the points you risk outweigh the average gain from another roll.
  • Adjust to the scoreboard. If a rival is far ahead, safe turns of 20 will not catch them, so push to 25 or more. If you are well in front, bank earlier and make others take the risks.
  • When someone is within one good turn of 100, stop playing safe. Keep rolling until you win or bust, since you may not get another turn.
  • Always hold the moment your banked score plus turn total reaches 100. There is nothing to gain from another roll.
  • Remember the odds: each roll has a one in six chance of a 1, and the average successful roll adds 4. Three or four rolls in a turn is normal; seven or eight is a gamble.
