About Bomb Rush
The bomb-and-maze formula has been an arcade favourite since the 1980s, and it works for the same reason every time: your own weapon is as dangerous to you as it is to anyone else. Bomb Rush is our version of that classic grid brawl, tuned for short online rounds.
The arena is a 15 by 13 grid. Solid pillars stand in a regular pattern and can never be destroyed. Most of the remaining squares begin as crates, which a blast will clear. A bomb goes off about two seconds after you drop it and sends flames along the four straight lines from where it sat, stopping at pillars and at the first crate in each direction. Any other bomb caught in those flames explodes at once, so chains can sweep across the board.
Broken crates sometimes leave a power-up: an extra bomb you can have ticking at the same time, a longer flame, or more running speed. Everyone starts with one bomb and a short blast, so the first half minute is a race to dig out upgrades. To stop anyone hiding, sudden death begins at the 90 second mark and the outer ring of the arena turns to solid wall, one layer every few seconds. It suits groups who enjoy chaotic party games and anyone who likes laying a good trap.
How to play Bomb Rush
- Goal: be the last player with lives remaining. Everyone starts with 3.
- Move through the maze with WASD or the arrow keys. Pillars, crates and bombs block your way.
- Press Space to drop a bomb on your square. It explodes after about two seconds.
- The blast travels up, down, left and right. It destroys the first crate it meets in each direction and is stopped by pillars.
- Any player caught in a blast loses a life, including the one who placed the bomb. A bomb touched by flames explodes immediately.
- Collect power-ups from destroyed crates: an extra bomb, a longer blast range or faster movement. A blast burns up any power-up left lying in its path.
- After losing a life you respawn a couple of seconds later. Lose all three and you are out for the rest of the round.
- From 90 seconds the walls close in ring by ring and crush anyone caught. Last player alive wins. If the clock ends first, most lives wins, then most frags.

Bomb Rush tips and strategy
- Before you drop a bomb, know which way you will run. You need a side turning to duck into, because a straight corridor is exactly where the flames go.
- Spend the opening on crates, not opponents. Extra bombs and range are what make a trap possible later.
- Trap rivals in dead ends. A bomb at the mouth of a corridor with crates at the far end leaves no way out.
- Use chain reactions. A second bomb placed in the path of the first goes off early and catches players who thought they had time.
- Blowing yourself up costs a life and a frag. With a long flame range, count the squares before you stand around the corner.
- When sudden death starts, move to the centre early. Being crushed by the closing wall costs a life like any blast does.
Bomb Rush FAQ
How many lives do you get in Bomb Rush?
Three. Each time a blast or the closing wall catches you, you lose one and respawn shortly afterwards. When the third life goes you are eliminated, and the last player with lives left wins the round.
What do the power-ups do?
There are three. One lets you have an additional bomb active at once, one extends your flames by a square in every direction, and one increases your running speed. They stack as you collect more of them.
Can my own bomb hurt me?
Yes, and it is the most common way to lose a life. Your bomb treats you like any other player, and a self-inflicted blast also takes a frag off your tally, which can matter if the round goes to the clock.
What is sudden death?
At 90 seconds the playable area starts to shrink. The outermost ring of open squares becomes solid wall, then the next ring a few seconds later. It pushes the survivors together so a round cannot end in a stand-off.
Can I play a bomber game with just two players?
Yes. Two players start in opposite corners and the round works as a duel. Three and four player matches fill the other corners, and bots can take any corner that a human does not.
How many players do I need for Bomb Rush?
Bomb Rush supports 2 to 4 players. If a full table of real people isn't ready when you queue, MultiplayerHub fills the empty seats with bots instantly so the match starts without waiting.
Do I need to download anything or sign up to play Bomb Rush?
No. Bomb Rush runs entirely in your browser tab โ no app install, no account, no email required. Pick a name and you're matched within seconds.
Is Bomb Rush really free?
Free, always. Playing Bomb Rush does not require a purchase โ MultiplayerHub runs on ads instead of charging players.
