About Minesweeper Race
Minesweeper has been a favourite logic puzzle since it shipped with desktop computers in the early 1990s. The numbers tell you how many mines touch each cell, and from those numbers you work out which cells are safe. Minesweeper Race keeps that puzzle exactly as it is and adds opponents.
Every player solves an identical field of fourteen by fourteen cells with thirty mines, so nobody gets an easier layout. The game opens a safe starting area for everyone at the same moment, which means there is no blind first click and no losing on move one. You only see your own board. For your rivals you see progress, how many cells they have cleared and whether they are still in the race, and never the contents of their grid.
All the familiar tools are here: reveal, flag and chord. The difference from solo play is pressure. The first player to clear the whole field wins on the spot, and a player who hits a mine is out and is ranked on the safe cells opened up to that point. Races are capped at three minutes, so the game rewards fast, confident deduction and suits puzzle fans who want some competition.
How to play Minesweeper Race
- The goal is to be the first player to reveal every cell that does not contain a mine.
- All players receive the same field of 14 by 14 cells with 30 mines, and the same safe starting area is opened for everyone.
- Left-click or tap a hidden cell to reveal it. A number shows how many of the eight surrounding cells contain mines.
- Revealing a cell with no neighbouring mines opens the whole connected empty area around it automatically.
- Right-click, or long-press on a touch screen, to place a flag on a cell you believe is a mine.
- Double-click a revealed number that has the right number of flags around it to open all of its other neighbours at once.
- Revealing a mine ends your run. You are out and are ranked by the number of safe cells you had opened.
- The first player to clear the field wins immediately. If nobody does within three minutes, the player with the most safe cells revealed wins.

Minesweeper Race tips and strategy
- Learn the basic patterns. A 1 in a corner of revealed cells with only one hidden neighbour means that neighbour is a mine, and solved mines unlock the cells around them.
- Chord as soon as a number is satisfied. One double-click opens several cells and is the biggest time saver in a race, but a single wrong flag will set off a mine.
- Do not flag every mine. Flags are only useful where you plan to chord, and placing unnecessary ones costs time in a race to clear safe cells.
- When you are forced to guess, compare your cleared count with your rivals first. If you are far ahead and time is short, you can stop and still win on cells revealed.
- Work along the edge of the opened area in one direction instead of jumping around the board, so you do not have to re-read numbers you have already solved.

Each player has a private copy of the same minefield and plays it at the same time as everyone else. You cannot see or affect another player's board. A progress display shows how many cells each rival has cleared, and the first to finish wins.

Your run ends at once. You stay in the results and are ranked by how many safe cells you revealed before the mistake, so a player who went out late can still finish ahead of one who went out early.
